Firewall protection Design UserGate Proxy’s built-in firewall provides the additional protection of an Internet gateway to prevent hackers and other intrusions by blocking traffic going through particular ports (TCP, UDP, or any other IP protocol). The UserGate firewall processes packages that were not processed by NAT rules. If a package is processed by the NAT driver, it will not be processed by the Usergate firewall. Ports specified in the proxy settings (HTTP, FTP, Socks etc.), as well as ports specified in Port Mapping are included in automatically generated firewall rules (type auto). Port mapping This function binds any port of a local Ethernet interface to a certain port of a remote host. If you use anti-virus software on the Proxy server (used as a gateway to the Internet) you can be sure that all Internet traffic is scanned. In this case only the one system that filters all the traffic needs to be regularly updated with the most up-to-date antivirus definitions. So network administrators do not have to rely on each individual desktop to be updated. Panda Antivirus Entensys has partnered with Panda Software to provide Antivirus scanning functionality for UserGate. The Panda antivirus engine is integrated into UserGate Proxy so that Panda Software works as a filter intercepting all data transferred through various Internet protocols. From all traffic it selects only those objects which are subject to control and analyzes them for viruses and spyware. The administrator has the option to exclude specific users from this general checking. Updates to the antivirus database can be performed either automatically or manually from the Entensys website.
