Advanced site description
Ritratti di Riccardo Corti: Large size portraits, in which the Florentine artist Riccardo Corti express a very refined and genuine revisit of the Pop Art language; extraordinary oil paintings in which the absolute verisimilitude fuse to a inner poetic mark. Born in Florence in 1952, Corti now lives and works in Lido di Camaiore. In 1976 he was Luchino Visconti's assistant director in 'L'innocente' and in 1979 he directed the movie 'Miguelonica'. Since 1980 paintings has been Corti's most important means of expression. He took part in national and international art contests and awards, both in Italy and abroad. The so-called 'Minotauri'- peculiar equestrian figures decomposed in polychrome pieces - and the fanciful and ironical 'half oranges', lightly suspended in mid-air, are among his favourite subjects. The gallery 'Mercurio Arte Contemporanea'(corso Garibaldi 116, Viareggio, Italy), directed by Gianni Costa, houses permanent exhibition of Riccardo Corti's oil paintings. Many art critics have written on him, including Marco Del Monte, Lucio Scardino and Antonella Serafini.
